The 2019 Cantos de Valpiedra is a Tempranillo sourced from a single vineyard on the banks of the Ebro River, in the Cenicero area of Rioja Alta. Aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, this garnet wine unfolds aromas of sour cherry and strawberry, complemented by hints of herbs and tomato leaf over a vanilla layer. On the palate, it is dry and juicy, with fine, reactive tannins adding a rich texture to a bold mouthfeel. This is a savory Rioja.

Description Description

Finca Valpiedra is a single Rioja Alta vineyard of spectacular quality; so good in fact, that the company decided to build a winery in the middle of it to look after its concentrated aromatic fruit. The 80-hectare estate is located on a meander in the river Ebro between Fuenmayor and Cenicero, the predominantly alluvial and pebbly soils, the three terraces of vineyards have a unique micro-climate, holding heat and humidity, these stones, “piedra”, have a great influence upon the quality of the wine.

Intense purple colour. with a nose: highly aromatic with black fruit and ripe sloe notes. Vanilla, spice and tobacco notes from the barrel, give a glorious character to this wine. The palate is oily, rich and intense with a sweetness right across the mouth, showing great finesse. Well-balanced acidity with the alcohol, with the typical “Valpiedra” freshness predominant. A long, cool and mineral finish, with a touch of fine woods.
