Jean and Agnès Foillard took over the Domaine from Jean`s father in 1980. It wasn`t long before their wines reached the cult-like status they enjoy today. Early on, Jean began to follow the teachings of Jules Chauvet, a traditionalist who defied everything that the more commercial brands were touting in the region.
The nose reveals wild strawberries and candied cherries, hinting at something more complex beneath. The palate is silky smooth mouthful with whispers of earth and minerals, all thanks to 60-year-old vines clinging to the granite and schist slopes of an extinct volcano. Unfined, unfiltered and entirely natural, this is Gamay that whispers secrets rather than shouts them from the rooftops.
