Dog Point, Sauvignon Blanc Section 94 2018
- New zealand
- Marlborough
- 75cl
- ABV: 14.5%
Grape Variety:
Back in 1979, when the Dog Point vineyard was first planted by Ivan and Margaret Sutherland, Marlborough was a long way from being the household name amongst wine drinkers that it is today. The investment proved to be a sage decision, and as the popularity of Marlborough grew (thanks in no small part to Ivan Sutherland’s work as chief viticulturalist at Cloudy Bay), the fruit from this vineyard in Marlborough’s southern valleys became highly sought after.
Section 94 remains a regional benchmark for barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc. This is medium to full-bodied, with vibrant notes of pithy citrus, stone fruits, crushed stones and wild herbs. It is an excellent wine to drink now (though it can also age!) and is at best when served with fresh seafood and shellfish.
