Bright, mid garnet. Funky, savoury Pinot aromas and flavours that finish bone dry. No obvious sweetness here but a wine made to develop greater interest and last in bottle. Some violet aromas and even a slight butteriness of texture. Really interesting wine that has not yet reached its full potential. Grainy, peppery finish adds interest. Long.

Grape Variety:

Pinot Noir

Back in 1979, when the Dog Point vineyard was first planted by Ivan and Margaret Sutherland, Marlborough was a long way from being the household name amongst wine drinkers that it is today. The investment proved to be a sage decision, and as the popularity of Marlborough grew (thanks in no small part to Ivan Sutherland’s work as chief viticulturalist at Cloudy Bay), the fruit from this vineyard in Marlborough’s southern valleys became highly sought after.

A bright perfumed, supple expression of Marlborough pinot noir from clay hill slopes. The fruit is supported by dried herb and characteristic brown spice notes and complex smokiness. The palate has a dense core of juicy fruit and bold, fine grained, ripe tannins
